Private Appliance
Countertop and over-the-range

Microwaves in Johnston, Rhode Island

An over-the-range microwave does two jobs — cooking, and venting the range underneath it — so grease, steam and heat pass through it every single day. We carry countertop and over-the-range units in new, used and reconditioned condition. Replacing an over-the-range one means matching both the width and the venting, and that is worth getting right the first time.

New, used and reconditioned on the floor. We repair microwaves too — any brand, and in-shop estimates are free.

What we carry

Microwaves — what we sell, and what we repair.

Stock turns over week to week, so the honest split is this: the first list is what was last confirmed on the floor, the second is the full range that comes across the bench.

Confirmed on the floor

  • Countertop
  • Over-the-range

Types we work on

  • Countertop
  • Over-the-range
  • Built-in with trim kit

Before you buy

Measure first. Then argue about the badge.

The things that decide which one fits your house, in the order they usually come up at the counter.

01

Over-the-range units are nearly always 30 inches wide to match the range underneath.

02

Know where your vent goes — outside through the wall, up through the roof, or recirculating through a charcoal filter.

03

Wattage drives speed. A 1,000W unit heats noticeably faster than a 700W countertop model.

04

Measure the interior, not the outside, if you reheat full-size dinner plates or casserole dishes.

05

An over-the-range install needs a cabinet above it and two people — it's a heavier job than it looks.

06

On an inexpensive countertop unit, a repair can cost more than a replacement. Ask before you commit to the work — in-shop estimates are free.

The other half of the shop

We repair microwaves, too.

Any brand, whether it came from us or from somewhere else ten years ago, and in-shop estimates are free. These are the faults that come across the bench most often — if yours is on this list, get it looked at before you replace anything.

  • Runs but doesn't heat — magnetron, diode, or high-voltage capacitor
  • Turntable not spinning
  • Door switch failure stopping it from starting
  • Vent fan noisy, weak, or not running on an over-the-range unit
  • Keypad or touch panel dead or unresponsive
  • Interior or cooktop light out
  • Sparking inside from a damaged waveguide cover

Not sure whether it is worth repairing? That is the question a free in-shop estimate answers, and we will tell you when the answer is no.

Ask for a price

Ask about a specific machine.

Prices are set at the counter on the actual machine, so a phone call is the fastest way to get a real answer on a real unit instead of a range that means nothing.
