Privacy Policy

Last updated

Private Appliance sells and repairs appliances at 228 Putnam Pike in Johnston, Rhode Island. This page explains, in plain language, what this website does and does not do with information about you. It is short because there is very little to say: the site has no forms, collects nothing you type, and sends nothing to us. Everything goes through the phone.

What this policy covers

This policy covers this website — the pages on it. It does not cover what happens when you call the shop or walk through the front door. We treat what you tell us in person or on the phone with the same care, but this page is about the website.

It also does not cover other companies’ websites. If we link out to Google Maps for directions, that company’s own privacy policy applies the moment you leave our site.

What we collect

Nothing you type

There are no forms on this website. No contact form, no quote form, no booking form — not a single box anywhere that sends us anything. The only exception is the ZIP-code box on the delivery page, which checks your ZIP against a list that is part of the page itself. What you type there never leaves your browser.

So there is no account to create, no newsletter to be added to, and no database of customers behind this site. If you want to reach the shop you call (401) 232-9090, and what you say on that call is between you and the person who answers.

What the website records automatically

This site is hosted by Vercel. Like every web host, Vercel’s servers keep standard request logs — your IP address, the page you asked for, the time, and your browser and device type — so the page can be delivered and the service kept secure. We do not build a profile from them and we do not sell them.

The site also uses Vercel Analytics to count visits in aggregate: which pages are read, and roughly what kind of device is reading them. It is cookieless, and it does not follow you from one website to another.

When you tap a button

The Call buttons are ordinary phone links. Tapping one hands the number to your phone, and the call runs through your phone carrier, not through this website. The Directions button opens Google Maps; from that point Google’s privacy policy applies.

There are no user accounts and no passwords on this site, no shopping cart and no online checkout, so this website never touches your card or bank details. If any of that is ever added, this page changes before it goes live, not after.

Who we share it with

Effectively nobody, because there is nothing from this website to share. The only outside parties are:

  • Our web host. Vercel operates the servers this site runs on, and the analytics described above.
  • Google, for maps. The map on the contact page and the about page is embedded from Google Maps, and the Directions links open Google Maps.
  • The law. If a court order, a subpoena, or a law we have to follow requires it, we would comply — and we would tell you unless we were legally prohibited from doing so.

We do not sell your information. We do not rent it, trade it, or hand it to a data broker, and we do not share it for anyone else’s advertising. No advertisers, no lead-resellers, no marketing partners.

Cookies and analytics

This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not use third-party analytics that follow you around the internet. Vercel Analytics is cookieless and aggregate.

What the site does put on your device is small and functional: it uses your browser’s own session storage to remember, for the length of your visit, that you have already seen the short intro animation, so it does not replay on every page. It is gone when you close the tab, and nothing reads it but your own browser.

One exception, and it is worth naming: the maps on our contact page and about page are embedded from Google Maps. Those frames are Google’s, not ours, and Google may set its own cookies inside them under Google’s privacy policy. Everything above is still true of the rest of the site.

Because we do not do behavioral tracking, there is nothing here to opt out of. Browser signals like Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control do not change anything, simply because we were not tracking you to begin with.

How long we keep it

The website itself keeps nothing about you — there is no database. Vercel’s server logs are kept for whatever period Vercel retains them as our hosting provider; they are short-term operational records, not something we mine.

Records of an actual sale or repair — the invoice, what we installed or replaced, the serial number — are kept by the shop, separately from this website, for longer, because tax rules and warranty claims depend on them.

Your choices

Because this website collects nothing from you, there is nothing on it for you to access, correct or delete. If you have given the shop information by phone or in person and want it corrected or removed, call (401) 232-9090 during business hours, and tell us what you want done. There is no charge for asking.

One honest caveat: if you bought something from us or we repaired something for you, we may have to keep the sale or service record even after you ask us to delete the rest, because tax and warranty record-keeping require it. We will tell you if that applies to you.

Children

This website is meant for adults buying and repairing appliances. It is not directed to children, and this site collects nothing from anyone, including anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we change how any of this works, we will change this page and update the “last updated” date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say what changed rather than quietly swapping the text.
