Chest and upright freezers, manual defrost and frost-free

Freezers in Johnston, Rhode Island

A second freezer earns its corner of the basement if you buy meat in bulk, garden, or cook ahead. We sell new, used and reconditioned freezers and we deliver within fifty miles of Johnston — all of Rhode Island plus nearby Massachusetts and Connecticut. Chest and upright are different animals; call and ask which are on the floor before you come out.

New, used and reconditioned on the floor. We repair freezers too — any brand, and in-shop estimates are free.

A photograph of the shop, not of a listing. Used and reconditioned machines are one of a kind, so the unit you buy is the one you looked at.

What we carry

Freezers — what we sell, and what we repair.

Stock turns over week to week, so the honest split is this: the first list is what was last confirmed on the floor, the second is the full range that comes across the bench.

On the floor

We carry freezers. Which styles are in on any given day changes as pieces sell, and we would rather tell you on the phone than leave a stale list up here. Call (401) 232-9090 and we will walk the floor while you wait.

Types we work on

  • Chest freezer
  • Upright freezer
  • Frost-free upright
  • Manual defrost
  • Compact / under-counter
  • Garage-ready
Before you buy

Measure first. Then argue about the badge.

The things that decide which one fits your house, in the order they usually come up at the counter.

01

Chest freezers hold more per dollar and keep food frozen longer in a power outage. Uprights are far easier to organize.

02

Manual defrost holds a steadier temperature and is better for long storage. Frost-free saves you the yearly defrost job.

03

If it's going in a garage or an unheated basement, look for a unit rated to run in cold ambient temperatures.

04

Give it a dedicated outlet. A freezer sharing a circuit with a space heater or a shop tool is a thawed freezer waiting to happen.

05

Leave a few inches of clearance around the cabinet so the condenser can shed heat.

06

Measure the lid swing on a chest freezer — it needs headroom above, not just floor space.

The other half of the shop

We repair freezers, too.

Any brand, whether it came from us or from somewhere else ten years ago, and in-shop estimates are free. These are the faults that come across the bench most often — if yours is on this list, get it looked at before you replace anything.

  • Not holding temperature or running warm
  • Heavy frost build-up in a frost-free unit
  • Compressor running constantly and never cycling
  • Lid or door gasket no longer sealing
  • Drain line frozen and water pooling in the bottom
  • Start relay, capacitor, or thermostat failure
  • Interior light or alarm not working

Not sure whether it is worth repairing? That is the question a free in-shop estimate answers, and we will tell you when the answer is no.

Ask for a price

Ask about a specific machine.

Prices are set at the counter on the actual machine, so a phone call is the fastest way to get a real answer on a real unit instead of a range that means nothing.
